Terms of Service

Effective date: April 26, 2026

These Terms explain your rights and responsibilities when using Solvequill. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using Solvequill (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, school, or other entity, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that entity to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least the age required to consent to the processing of personal data in your country (typically 13–16). Users under 18 should use Solvequill only with the involvement of a parent, legal guardian, or school authority. We may, at our discretion, require age verification or restrict access in jurisdictions where compliance with applicable law is not feasible.

3. The Service

Solvequill is an educational platform that converts user-submitted problems (text, images, photos, PDFs, or supported source files) into AI-generated, narrated whiteboard explanation videos, structured solution steps, study summaries, practice problems, quizzes, and study plans across mathematics, physics, and coding subjects. Features, formats, language coverage, processing time, and supported subjects may evolve and may be added, modified, suspended, or removed without prior notice.

4. Accounts and Security

You must provide accurate, current, and personally controlled registration information, verify your email address when prompted, and keep your account credentials confidential. You are solely responsible for activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at the contact channels listed below if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend, throttle, or require additional verification for any account that shows signs of abuse, fraud, automated misuse, credential sharing, or activity that endangers other users or our infrastructure.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the questions, images, files, notes, comments, titles, descriptions, tags, reports, and feedback you submit ("User Content"). You grant Solvequill a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, transcode, translate, process through AI models, render to video and audio, display, and otherwise use User Content solely to operate, secure, support, troubleshoot, and improve the Service, to comply with law, and to enforce these Terms. The license terminates when you delete the relevant content, except as required for backups, security, audit, dispute, fraud-prevention, accounting, and legal compliance purposes.

6. Acceptable Use

You may not, and may not attempt to: upload illegal, infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, self-harm, or otherwise harmful content; submit confidential personal data of third parties without authorization; misuse the Service to cheat on graded assessments or violate the rules of your school, exam authority, or employer; circumvent quotas, paywalls, rate limits, security controls, or content moderation; use scrapers, bots, or automation to access the Service without our written consent; reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our models, prompts, or proprietary algorithms; resell or sublicense the Service without authorization; use the Service to develop a competing AI product; or interfere with the Service's security, integrity, or availability.

7. AI Outputs

Solvequill relies on third-party and proprietary machine-learning models. AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, outdated, hallucinated, or unsuitable for your context. They are educational explanations, not professional advice and not an official answer key. You must independently verify outputs before relying on them for grades, exams, scholarships, admissions, safety, engineering, legal, financial, medical, or other consequential decisions. See the AI and Educational Disclaimer for additional details.

8. Plans, Quotas, and Payments

The Service may offer free and paid plans with different features, video quotas, processing priorities, and limits. During Beta, paid plans, refunds, and renewals are limited or disabled; once activated, plan features, prices, taxes, billing cycles, refund eligibility, and trial conditions will be governed by the terms displayed at the point of purchase, by the published plan page, and by your payment provider's policies. Quotas, fair-use limits, and credit allocations may be adjusted with reasonable notice. Failed payments, chargebacks, or fraud may result in immediate suspension of premium access.

9. Explore and Public Sharing

If you publish a video to Explore, share a public link, or otherwise make a video, question, summary, or related metadata accessible to others, those items may be viewed, indexed, embedded by us within the Service, surfaced in search and recommendations, and downloaded by other users where the relevant share settings allow. You are responsible for ensuring that everything you publish is accurate, lawful, free of confidential information, and respects the rights of others. We may remove or unindex shared content at our discretion.

10. Intellectual Property

Solvequill, its logos, brand assets, software, model prompts, instructional design, animations, voice configurations, layouts, and all related materials are owned by Solvequill or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license granted to use the Service, no rights are transferred to you. Feedback you provide may be used by us without obligation or compensation.

11. Copyright and Takedown

We respect the intellectual property of others and expect users to do the same. If you believe content on Solvequill infringes your copyright or other rights, send a notice to the contact channels below including: identification of the work; the URL or location of the allegedly infringing content; your contact information; a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized; a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf; and your physical or electronic signature. We may remove allegedly infringing content, notify the uploader, and terminate repeat infringers.

12. Account Deactivation and Restoration

Account deactivation is a self-service access-control action; it is not an immediate deletion of every record. After password confirmation, you may request deactivation. We may retain submitted content, generated outputs, transaction and payment records, security logs, abuse-prevention signals, audit trails, support communications, and legal or compliance records for as long as necessary or permitted by law to operate the Service, enforce agreements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, meet tax and accounting duties, and protect rights, safety, and system integrity. A deactivated account is no longer accessible to the user unless restored. Restoration is not guaranteed; an authorized administrator may restore access only after appropriate review, account verification, and when restoration is lawful and consistent with our policies. Some records may remain archived, anonymized, aggregated, excluded from restoration, or retained in backups.

13. Termination by Solvequill

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any breach of these Terms, suspected fraud or abuse, legal or regulatory requirement, security risk, prolonged inactivity, or material change to the Service. Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends, and the provisions that by their nature should survive (including content licenses to the extent necessary, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute resolution) will survive.

14. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service, including all AI-generated outputs, is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, uninterrupted access, error-free operation, security, or any specific educational outcome.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Solvequill, its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, exam grades, admissions outcomes, or business opportunities, arising out of or in connection with the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability for direct damages is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Solvequill for the Service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred United States dollars.

16. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Solvequill and its affiliates from any third-party claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your User Content, your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

17. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email at least seven days before they take effect, where reasonably practicable. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms means you accept the changes. If you do not accept the changes, you must stop using the Service before they take effect.

18. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country of incorporation of the Solvequill operating entity, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Where applicable consumer protection law grants you the protection of mandatory provisions of your country of residence, those mandatory rights are preserved. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except that you may also bring claims in the courts of your country of residence where required by law.

19. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force, and the invalid provision will be replaced with a valid provision closest to the original intent. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the AI and Educational Disclaimer, are the entire agreement between you and Solvequill regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreement on that subject.

20. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the Contact page within the Service. Legal notices must be in writing and sent through that channel to be considered received.
